“To give hope to the one who has lost hope.”
There are dates that sit quietly on a calendar, and then there are dates that define a mission. For us, August 3rd, 2019, remains one of those defining moments. Looking back on that Saturday afternoon—from 2 PM to 5 PM—we remember a time when “Open Awareness” became more than a slogan. It became a movement.
The Vision: An Open Heart Affair
The “Open Heart Affair” was never about a grand spectacle. It was about the raw, honest work of looking at the world with open eyes and seeing where life had become too heavy for our neighbors.
We set out with a singular focus: How can we ease life for the less privileged?
In a world that often moves too fast to notice the struggling, we chose to stop. We chose to listen. We chose to be the bridge between despair and a smile.
Three Hours of Impact
The beauty of that outreach wasn’t just in the resources shared, but in the atmosphere created. Being a Change Maker is about realizing that hope is a tangible thing. You can give it through a conversation, through a shared meal, or through the simple act of showing up.
-
Awareness: We opened our hearts to the realities of those who walk a harder path.
-
Action: We moved beyond sympathy to find practical ways to ease the burdens of the less privileged.
-
Restoration: We saw faces that had forgotten how to smile light up again.
A Legacy, Not Just a Memory
Why does an afternoon from 2019 still matter today? Because the need for compassion doesn’t have an expiration date. The “Open Heart Affair” taught us that when you give hope to someone who has lost it, you aren’t just changing their day—you are changing the trajectory of their spirit.
That day in August proved that while we cannot change the whole world in three hours, we can change the world for one person. And then another. And then another.
The Mission Continues
As we look back at the photos and the memories of August 3rd, 2019, we don’t just see the past. We see a blueprint for the future. We carry that same “Open Awareness” into everything we do today.
Being a change-maker is a permanent state of being. Whether it was 2019 or today, the goal remains the same: Open your heart, ease a life, and put a smile on a face.
